The new Sierra Wireless FX30 Programmable IoT Gateway has now been launched, setting a new standard for IoT embedded platforms.

The FX30 is the industry’s smallest, most rugged programmable 3G/4G LTE cellular gateway.

 

 

 

 

Introducing the Sierra Wireless FX30

Providing an integrated, secure embedded application environment, the FX30 from Sierra Wireless enables scalable, speedy and global deployments of IoT applications for any connected machine or infrastructure. Offering a small footprint and highly ruggedised, the Sierra Wireless FX30 will be available in 3 versions:

  • 3G Ethernet – available December 16th 2016
  • 3G Serial – available March 2017
  • LTE Ethernet – available March 2017

Applications

Built for IoT applications, the Sierra Wireless FX30 is suitable for connecting any machine or infrastructure, and its Ethernet and Serial variants provide the flexibility to suit most applications. It also supports an IoT connector expansion slot to enable hardware extensions, and even has the option to support both standard 2FF SIMs or MFF2 embedded SIMs.

Offering best-in-class low power consumption (less than 1W in idle mode and 2mW in ultra-low power mode) it is ideal for solar or battery powered applications as well – increasing its flexibility and potential use cases.

Example applications include monitoring and alerting for solar panels, water pumps, wind turbines, alternators, sensors, thermometers, and so on.
