The NetMetal ax is a highly versatile outdoor access point designed for long-range use in any environment. With its durable construction, it can be installed almost anywhere with ease. The IP66-rated protection ensures the device is safe from dust and powerful water jets, making it suitable for damp attics, lift shafts, docks, or coastal towers. The NetMetal ax can handle the toughest terrains, making it comparable to the Mars rover in networking.

Equipped with a modern dual-core ARM CPU, Gigabit Ethernet, and 2.5 Gigabit SFP for fibre connectivity, it also includes a USB port and a free miniPCIe slot for further customisation. Users can add an LTE modem for mobile internet backup, facilitated by the NanoSIM slot. Other options include adding a gateway for LoRa IoT setups, like the R11e-LR8.

The powerful dual-band, dual-chain WiFi 6 radio offers increased speed, stability, security, roaming, power management, and other advanced features compared to previous wireless protocols. Two RP-SMA connectors allow for the addition of antennas for distances up to 30 kilometres. For shorter range use, antennas like the HGO-antenna-OUT screw-on omni antenna unit provide 3.3 dBi gain for the 2.4 GHz band and 5.5-7.1 dBi gain for the 5 GHz band.

As an additional feature, the NetMetal ax includes a beeper for various alarms or creative outputs.
