Everything Everywhere wins Ofcom approval for 4G

Ofcom has announced that it will allow mobile operator Everything Everywhere to use its existing 2G spectrum to launch 4G services to its Orange and T-Mobile customers.

The provisional approval given by the regulator could lead to an initial launch of services by the end of the year. Everything Everywhere plans to vary its 1800MHz spectrum licenses to allow the use of LTE (Long term Evolution) technologies. This means the LTE network could be available to the UK before Ofcom auctions off official 4G contracts in early 2013.

For the UK to finally getting closer to having a LTE Network is very good news. The UK is one of the last developed European countries to license the 4G spectrum. Westbase Technology will be launching LTE compatible products soon to meet with the demand once the network is in place.
